Fixtures:
We meet our neighbours Fr. Caseys (B Team) in the West Junior A Semi final on Tuesday June 16th 2026. The winners will meet Feenagh Kilmeedy in the West Final.
We are just over three weeks to County Championship and this match will give us a good indication of how well prepared we are. The soccer season is over now so we should have a few players back strengthening the panel.
West Junior A Football Championship Semi final
Tuesday 16th June, 2026. 7:15pm. Venue: Abbeyfeale
Fr. Caseys v Athea, Referee: Sean Hartnett
U14s:
U14 Football Athea v Knockaderry:
Athea played in the second round of the U14 13 a-side league on Thursday evening last in Athea, having won our opening match against Caherconlish we were hoping to keep the momentum going.
Conditions were very wet on the evening with Athea playing with a strong wind in the first half which we made good use of leading 2:06 to 1 goal at half time. The second half was a tighter game with a young Knockaderry team enjoying long periods of possession however Athea won out in the end 3:08 to 1:04 in what was an excellent game of footballer considering the conditions. This is a very young Athea team and our numbers are tight however the boys always give 100% and are excellent to train each week. Panel on the evening was. John Mullvihill, Conchuir Brouder, Jontie Weilding, Noah Nash, Conor Hayes, Oisin McCarthy, Colton Brouder, Edward Kelly, Tom Mullane, Fionn Hunt, Tiernan Fitzgerald, Oisin Kennedy, Mikey Mullvihill, Mattie Doody and Kieran Sheehan.
U12s:
U12 Billy Kirwan Football Tournament:
We were delighted once again to be invited to Foynes on Friday evening to play in the annual Billy Kirwan tournament which is always very well run by the St. Senans club. We played against a strong Shannon Gaels team in our first match and even though the score line was against us we never gave up. We played the home team in the Sheild Final and considering how far behind we were at half time we still managed to score 3:02 in the second half to ensure an exciting finish with St. Senans holding out for the victory. Panel on the evening was. John Mullvihill, Conchuir Brouder, Tom Mullane, Fionn Hunt, Tiernan Fitzgerald, Oisin Kennedy, Mikey Mullvihill, Mattie Doody, Scott Nolan, Daniel Smith, Noah Collins and Conor Brouder.
