Healthy Athea:
Every Step Counts – Get Ready for 2026
Every Step Counts is back! It’s time to reconnect with your club and community and feel the benefits of physical exercise. Get tracking for 5 weeks from Wednesday 7th January to Wednesday 11th February to help your club reach a combined target of 4,000km.
Any club that hits the 4,000km distance over 5 weeks will be entered into the draw to win a share. There’ll be 3 donations of *€2,500 towards club funding per province up for grabs.
The more participants we get, the quicker we will hit the target, so make sure that every step really does count!

Men:
McGrath Cup:
Evan Curry made his debut for Limerick Senior Footballers in Mick Neville Park on Friday evening (Jan 2nd) in an experimental lineup versus Tipperary in Round 1 of the McGrath Cup. He started at right half forward and scored a point late in the game, performing well in the second half. On a cold frosty evening, Tipperary ran out as winners on a scoreline of 0-15 to 0-04. Limerick travelled to Páirc Uí Rinn last Sunday to meet Cork in Round 2 of the competition. They performed very well winning the game on a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-15.

Men on the Move-Part 2:
In late 2025 a group of men embarked on a 6 week programme at the pitch under the Men on the Move Programme. The members of the group were mainly Over 50 with no experience of fitness programmes. The group have decided to carry on in 2026 and have now started light gym work with DG Fitness & Wellbeing (087) 7833718. Athea Ladies:
Best of luck to Anna Murphy in the soccer Munster final taking place this Sunday, following a 6-0 win over North Tipperary in the Munster semi final. Also the club want to wish Aoife Curtin a speedy recovery following shoulder surgery. We continue to wish all county players success in the upcoming season and club training will resume very shortly.
