Tom Morrissey voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

Limerick’s Tom Morrissey has been voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.

The Limerick forward earned 7,962 votes on the Official GAA Instagram page with Kilkenny’s Richie Hogan second and Clare’s Shane O’Donnell third.

GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

1: Tom Morrissey (Limerick) – 7,962 votes

2: Richie Hogan (Kilkenny) – 3,757 votes

3: Shane O’Donnell (Clare) – 3,585 votes

With his brother Dan also prominent, Tom Morrissey was a hugely influential figure for Limerick against Kilkenny at Semple Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

John Kiely’s charges are enjoying a fine campaign with Morrissey’s four points helping to steer the Treatymen to a famous win over Kilkenny in Thurles.

Despite being plagued by a back injury Richie Hogan still remains one of the most accomplished performers in the game.

A typically defiant Kilkenny display featuring 1-3 from Hogan wasn’t enough to stop Limerick, who now face Cork in an intriguing All Ireland semi-final at the end of the month.

Shane O’Donnell’s four point haul from play was critical for Clare, who had sufficient class to overcome Wexford at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday afternoon.

O’Donnell’s selflessness has been a real feature of Clare’s play in recent campaigns, but he struck important scores on the banks of the Lee.
