St Patrick’s G.A.A. Club Notes:

U14 Hurlers in Narrow Feile win:

Our U14 hurlers Southside Gaels had a narrow 2-4 to 2-3 win over Kilpeacon in the first round of the Feile in Rhebogue. This was a tight battle throughout and a great win for what is a very young panel. Well done to all involved.

Gearoid in Powerful Man of the Match Display:

Gearoid Hegarty again reached new heights with a fully deserved Man of the Match performance in Limerick hurlers televised win. Contributing 2-06 from play in a 6-33 to 1-19 victory over Laois. Well done Gearoid.

St Patricks Day Parade:

St Patricks GAA will once again March in the Parade for 2017. A tradition we are very proud of, past experience includes in 2009 when the club proudly led the parade as Grand Marshall with Emma O’ Driscoll. We performed hit single ” here come the boys” in front of the Mayoral stand.

In 2011 we celebrated 125 years since the club was formed as young and old marched on O’Connell Street. Any club member or player at any age who wishes to march on Friday are always welcome. Meeting at St Johns church 11:20am. Leaving at 11:30 sharp. Note: This is a later time than previous years so we will not be waiting around in the army barracks.

Everyone is invited to the clubhouse afterwards to continue the day. It will open at 3pm for the club GAA All Ireland finals, with Traditional Irish music from 6pm. Looking forward to seeing all the kids out to represent the club.

Senior Footballers In first action of 2017:

St Patricks senior footballers will have their first competitive action of 2017, when they take on Fr Caseys in round 1 of the senior football league this week. The fixture is Monday night at 7.30pm in Rhebogue at present but may be subject to change. Best of luck to our new coach James Hanrahan, manager Kieran Dore, Darren Hanrahan, Myles Halpin and Niall McNamara, Kitman Tim O Connor and all of the panel for the coming year.

National GAA Draw:

St Patricks were fortunate to be drawn as a club winner in the recent National GAA draw, €1000 that will be of great benefit to all in the club for 2017. Many thanks to all those who supported this draw in recent weeks.

The Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake:
The hugely anticipated Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake started on Saturday 11th March last at limerick Greyhound Stadium. With a total prize fund of €160,000, this is the richest event ever staged at an Irish Greyhound Stadium outside of Shelbourne Park. The event is kindly sponsored by JP & Noreen McManus, and also offers local GAA clubs the opportunity to share in a €20,000 nominators prize fund. St Patricks were drawn in heat 5 with Tinas Rosie in trap 6, unfortunately in a tough heat Tina did not qualify for the next round on the night.

Clothes Collection:

Many thanks to all those in the parish who supported the clothes collection on Monday last, this was a vital fundraiser for the club and greatly appreciated.
