Well done to our army of volunteers who, despite the poor weather, enthusiastically got stuck in on Good Friday to leave the South Liberties area free from litter. A wonderful occasion!
Membership can be paid on Sunday next, April 23rd from 11:30am to 12:45pm at the clubhouse. Everybody is encouraged to have this paid before the issue of the new membership cards next week.
South Liberties 3-18 Croom 1-13 South Liberties had a good win over Croom tonight in the All County Hurling League in Dooley Park. Both teams were missing some prominent players but this did not deter both teams from serving up an entertaining contest. Croom, aided by the breeze, started the brightest and raced into an early six point lead. Liberties settled, however, and started to dominate proceedings around the middle of the field with John Hickey striking some intelligent balls and picking off a couple of beautiful long range points. Mid way through the half two rasping shots were delivered to the Croom net by Conor McSweeney and Brian Ryan, allowing Liberties to settle into to a rhythm that would continue til the final whistle. A feature of the half was the form of Eoin Godfrey at full forward. Half time score: Liberties 2-06 Croom 1-07. Liberties started the second half well with Mike Keane dominating on the forty and Mike O Brien doing a similar job at number 6. Early in the half came the score of the game. Brian Ryan won a great ball in the middle of the field a long range point was on but he struck an exquisite diagonal ball to top of the right where Eoin Godfrey raced to collect. Eoin rounded his man and resisting the temptation to shoot, played a perfect ball into the path of the inrushing Sean Keane who duly dispatched.” a perfect team goal!” Liberties continued to press home their superiority and ran out comfortable winner on a scoreline of South Liberties 3-18 Croom 1-13. Paul Butler had a great game in the Liberties goal with two fantastic saves in the second half. His puck outs were intelligent and lengthy. Enda Meaney continues to impress with Mike Moynihan a class apart on the half back line. John Hickey was a revelation at midfield, ably assisted by the impressive return of Conor McSweeney. Mike Keane continues to defy the aging process and Brian Ryan’s second half display was a joy to behold. South Liberties: Paul Butler, Eoin Quilty, Pa Carroll, Enda Meaney, Mike Moynihan, Mike O Brien, Jamie Hogan, Conor McSweeney, John Hickey, Brian Ryan, Mike Keane, Brian Nash, Sean Keane, Eoin Godfrey and Barry Walsh.
