Works are continuing on the improvement and upgrade of our clubhouse building and grounds. We are undertaking a complete electrical rewiring together with associated cctv and alarm system upgrade. Repairs to the field’s current floodlighting are also being carried out. The driveway is being widened with new tarmac surface, footpaths and external lighting down to the gate is being provided. These works will take approximately five weeks. It has been necessary to close the drive to vehicular access until the works are complete. The contractor has advised us that the works are being interrupted and consequently held up as a result of motorists insisting on accessing the car park. Pedestrian access will be facilitated. We would like to thank you all for your co-operation while we strive to improve our facilities.

Monaleen competed last weekend in the Dermot Naughton under 10 memorial event.
Monaleen played Ballyhea, Toomevara, Loughrea in the group stages and finished the day playing our hosts Newtownshandrum. The boys had a great day and it was a fantastic opportunity to meet new teams from outside our own county. The standard of hurling was exceptional and the hospitality shown by our hosts was second to none. Thanks to the organizers and the parents for making the trip.
Our U13s were in Dublin at the weekend playing in the Kilmacud Crokes 11 a side tournament. We reached the final of the tournament and lost to our hosts in what was a great day out and a great experience for our young men. Congrats to all involved. A special mention for our own Joe Fitzgerald who was voted man of the tournament. A great achievement. Well done Joe.

Ladies Junior Championship:
Groody Gaels had a fantastic win on Saturday night in atrocious weather against a gallant Galtee Gaels. The girls were ahead by 7 points to nil at half time with the aid of a very strong wind. Galtee Gaels hit back with 2 early goals in the second half and our girls were down to 14 for 10 minutes. They really knuckled down and scored a creditable 2 goals and 4 points against the wind to win and qualify for the county final against Gerald Griffins. Details to
follow. In terms of the match every player including the subs put their shoulder to the wheel and were awesome. There were a number of injuries but hopefully they will all be fit for the final.
