Juvenile Club News:

Results:

U16 Hurling. We lost in the first round of the championship against Bruff

U15 Football. We lost to St. Patricks.

U14 Hurling:

After overcoming Na Piarsaigh in the second round of Féile na nGael, we progressed to play Cois Laoi Gaels in the Easter Sunday semi-final in South Liberties GAA. We were expecting this to be a tough game as CLG, made up of players from Staker Wallace and Effin, are a strong and well coached team. After a cracking opening point from Jack Ryan we soon found ourselves behind thanks to a couple of well worked goals from nifty CLG forward Patrick O’Donovan. A goal mouth scramble before the break resulted in our John Foley scoring his first goal of the Féile campaign which kept us in touch with a CLG team who had taken a strong grip of the game. We were down 5 points at half-time. After a motivating team talk we restarted the second half with higher tempo. Ronan Lyons showed his leadership as Captain to run through the field and score a fine goal which lifted the spirts of his team. With great sportsmanship, both teams battled in a fast-moving entertaining game which saw Monaleen eke out a 3-6 to 3-3 win mainly in part to a couple of points from Max Ivory and a second goal from John Foley, who was living his dream. We thank CLG for a sporting game and South Liberties GAA and the officers of Bord na nOg Luimni for hosting it. The past month has been one of learning for our squad who have been training and working harder as a team in the absence of injured county player Eric Stritch who we hope to see return to the hurling fields in coming months. Playing for Monaleen were Ben Hayes, Ben Murnane, Bryan Canny, Darragh Clifford, Darragh Langan, Declan Aylward, Muiris Ó Dálaigh, Dylan Crowe, Eoin Dignam, Evan O’Connell, Jack Ryan, John Foley, Joseph Fitzgerald, Lochlann McHale, Max Ivory, Noel Clancy, Oisin Toland, Robert O’Sullivan, Ronan Lyons, Shane Twomey and Tony Power. We will play Mungret St. Pauls in the Féile Luimní final on Sunday April 30th venue yet to be decided.
