Look Back at 5 Years Done as PRO and with 3 Days to Go (Strictly Come Dancing)
21st October 2015
Limerick Bord Na nOg would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported or contributed in any way to our Ultimate County Final last weekend at the Strictly Come Dancing in Limerick Racecourse.
An excellent night of entertainment was provided for the 500+ attendees and a great night was enjoyed. It was a fabulous atmosphere of fun, laughter & celebration of the GAA Community within Limerick. Our dancers had put in huge effort for 8 weeks prior to the event and we simply do not have enough words to express our gratitude to them. The costumes, interpretation of the dances & the enthusiasm brought by them to the event was incredible. Our dancers include: Dave Clohessy Fedamore, Breda English Hayes – Oola, Mary Flynn – Knockainey, Olivia Giltenane – Mungret (Limerick Ladies Footballer), Breda Hartnett Breen – Monagea (Sec. Limerick Bord Na nOg), Mary Hassett – Ahane, Senator James Heffernan – Blackrock, Kieran Larkin – Banogue & Croom, Mairead Lee Barry – Askeaton/Ballysteen, Katie Lynch – DrominAthlacca, Mairi McMahon – Castletown Ballygran, Gerry Molyneaux – Rathkeale (West Board Chairman), Danny Neville Ballysteen (Limerick Footballer), Kevin O’Brien – Patrickswell (Referee), Donnacha O’Callaghan – FeohanaghCastlemahon (Referee), Jack O’Connell – Doon, Jacqueline O’Connor – Athea, Annette O’Donnell – Mountcollins, Ciara O’Shea – Rathkeale (Referee), Eamon Phelan – St. Patricks (County Board PRO), Joe Quaid – MurroeBoher (Ex Limerick Camogie Manager) and John Ryan – Ex Limerick Football Manager.
While all our couples were amazing there were a few who rose to the top and were awarded special prizes on the night.
Our Most Entertaining Act was a run-away performance by our youngest contestants – Abby, Sarah & Roisin. These girls, despite their youth, were outstanding on the night. They performed so well as a team and no one was left in any doubt that these girls could have a big future in dancing if they so wished.
Our Runners Up on the night were our youngest couple Katie Lynch of Dromin Athlacca & Kieran Larking of Banogue. In a hurling/football partnership that works well off the field both these clubs representatives were outstanding & closed the show with an energetic Jitterbug.
And our Winners were none other than Athea’s Jacqueline O’Connor & Ballysteen’s & Limerick’s star forward Danny Neville. Performing a Salsa Jacqueline & Danny wowed the Judges & the audience with their fancy footwork and were popular winners on the night.
The night was hosted excellently by Liam Aherne, Sport’s Editor with Limerick 95fm and he is sure to have picked up lots of helpful dance skills & tips for when he himself performs in the Pallasgreen Strictly Come Dancing in November. Backstage in the Green Room Brid McNamara, PRO of Clare Camogie was on hand to get live reaction from all the dancers after their performance.
And finally our night was made by our four excellent Judges – Liam O’Sullivan, Vice Chairman of Limerick County Board, Siobhan Walsh of The G Boutique, Brid Madigan the Scottish Rose of Tralee and the Hurler/Manager/Comedian Anthony Daly!
