Limerick make the Journey to Carlow, first time since 2011.

As Limerick Senior Hurlers make the journey to Carlow on this Saturday 7th. July,to play Carlow in Netwatch Cullen Park, in what will be their first meeting in a Senior Championship, the sides met at the same venue on Sunday 27th. March 2011 in the Allianz Hurling League, Round 5 Division 2 where Limerick scored a 3.18 to 1.15 victory to maintain their 100% league record.

There was a clear difference in hurling skill between the sides, Limerick’s first touch and ability to pick out well placed colleagues was superior to Carlow, who tended to over-elaborate in possession.

In all eight Lmerick players scored, with Donie Ryan making a camoe appearance for the final 13 minutes and recording two points from play.

The Man of the Match was Sean Tobin who scored 2.04, as the Treaty County recorded their fifth successive win to remain very much on course for the top flight,

In fact Limerick went on to win the League Title a month later, but were not promoted.

On Saturday evening, Limerick like Carow will have many new faces, the visitors will have survivors of that game 7 years ago Seamus Hickey, Richie McCarthy on the panel while Tom Condon will not be available because of suspension,

The Game on Saturday is at 7pm with Tickets from selected Super Valu and Centra Stores and usual outlets. The winners will play the losers of the Leinster final Replay in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final on 15th. July.
