Limerick goalkeeper saved man’s life on flight
Limerick football captain and goalkeeper Donal O’Sullivan came to the aid of a heart attack victim on a flight from Australia to New Zealand last weekend.
The Limerick Leader reports that O’Sullivan, who is a doctor by profession, moved to New Zealand recently and was returning from the Austrailasian GAA championships in Melbourne when the medical emergency arose.
Fellow Limerick man Kevin Crowley, who was also part of the Wellington and Hutt Valley team that took part in the championships, explained: “On the way home a man in his early 50s with his family started suffering from what looked like a heart attack. Donal was a few seats ahead of him seen what was happening and came back to him and helped him out.
“He instructed the plane be turned around for an emergency landing and stayed with him keeping him alive until we landed and an ambulance came. Thankfully the man is alive.
“Donal is a gentleman and an absolute credit to Limerick GAA.”
