Limerick 2.10 Waterford 2.09

Limerick Footballers scored a well merited and deserved win in their Division 4 Round 5 game on this Saturday evening in Martinstown, played in cold but dry conditions, playing against a stiff breeze Limerick were the early pacesetters and led after six minutes of play by 1.01 to 0.01, the goal coming from Jamie Lee, the home side remained on top despite scoring a number of wides and were four points in front after 22 minutes of play with the scoreboard reading Limerick 1.05 Waterford 0.04. Limerick added a further point while the visitors were awarded a penalty which resulted in a goal to reduce the deficit to two points at the interval 1.06 to 1.04.

On the resumption of play Waterford reduced the deficit to the minimum with a well taken point, and as the game progressed they got on top and scored their second goal with fifteen minutes remaining on the stopwatch to take the lead 2.07 to 1.09 and added two further points to lead by a goal 2.09 to 1.09 with ten minutes left to play. In fairness to a young Limerick side they never gave up and were rewarded when Seamus O’Carroll scored a late goal and a pointed free from Sean McSweeney sealed the win and the league points on offer with a pointed free
