James Long Memorial Street Leagues:
Our James Long Memorial Street leagues finished on Friday and it was a great success. There was some great competitive hurling which made both under 9s and under 13s games highly entertaining. A huge thanks to all involved in the organising of this event especially our coaches who were fantastic. The work that went into running this competition involved many hours. We would also like to thank Guires, Jim Coffey and Mary Dowling for putting in so much of their time and efforts into organising such a special event and making it so successful and enjoyable. James will not be forgotten in the hearts of all those that knew him and Kilmallock GAA were delighted to hold a tournament that he would have loved in his memory. Thank you also to the Long family and to Barbara for presenting the prizes.
Mike Barron Retired:
On Thursday last Mike Barron retired from Scoil Mocheallog after 39 years of loyal service. Over the years Mike has given amazing service to school hurling and football. So many of our club players have many great memories of their school hurling with Mike, whose great love of our Gaelic games always shone through and who encouraged so many young players over the years. Kilmallock GAA wished to acknowledge Mike’s contribution and Steven Connery our Chairman came to the school on Thursday to present him with a token of our appreciation and to wish him a happy and healthy retirement. Mark and Paddy O Loughlin from our Senior team also attended. We wish Mike all the very best in the days ahead and thank him for his sterling service through the years.
Minors:
Our minors beat Patrickswell last Friday by a point in a match that finished on a scoreline of Kilmallock 2.16 to Patrickswell 0.21. Well done to players and management. Our annual hurling camp started on Monday July 3rd and will run until Friday 7th.
