Staker Wallace GAA Club Notes

Commiserations to our U14 footballers, who had a great season, but who just lost out by a goal to Granagh/Ballingarry in the County Final last Saturday in Rathkeale. You did so well to get there, and out in a huge effort so well done…

On behalf of our Bord na nOg, Chairman Paddy Mooney and his Committee would like to thank everyone, firstly from the Commitee, particularly our Secretary Winifred Crowley who really has gone above and beyond the line of duty this year, for all their hard work. We would also like to sincerely thank our small and very dedicated group of coaches (and we really would like to recruit more for next season, if the Mam’s and Dad’s out there would like to give a hand, please let us know…) the coaching pool was stretched tight this year, and to say they have worked wonders would be an well done… We have then of course to mention the kids, who have just been brilliant, both behaviour wise and performance… the older age groups have won great accolades, with County titles and medals… but all the younger ages have impressed to and really developed this season…there are young teams coming through who will be thrilling us for years to come! Thank you to all our sponsors who have chipped in much needed funds for new jerseys etc.. much appreciated… Also a big thank you to the Staker Wallace Junior Club for organising and maintaining our facilities.. We would also like to mention our counterparts at Effin Bord na nOg for their help, support and cooperation all season. Lastly of course huge appreciation for our parents… who have fundraised, baked, gave lifts, coached, and generally supported our whole set up during the course of the season… well done to all! Here’s looking forward to 2019 and doing it all again…..

All members of Staker Wallace GAA up to the age of 17 are invited to take part in our own SCOR quiz night. Which will take place upstairs in the Hall on the night of the 8th November, commencing at 8pm sharp.

The Quizmaster will be Matt O’Callaghan, and players will take part individually to answer a range of general knowledge questions, a small proportion of which will be in Irish.

The top scoring players will then go forward to represent Staker Wallace at County level, and ultimately there are All Ireland Medals to be won in this discipline….

Antoinette Mullins is our Club Irish Officer and will be organising this event…any help on the evening, with marking papers, making teas etc would be appreciated…thank you…
