Staker Wallace GAA Club Notes
Ena Wallace had the lucky chance this week, and so near too, as the Queen of Hearts made her appearance … but the Jackpot still stands, and next week will be €1500.
The lucky dip winners followed, and this week they were, Mags O’Sullivan, Leagh Moloney, Gina Cunneen and Bill Leahy.
Thanks to all for playing our weekly Ace of Hearts Lotto Game..
Well done to our Junior team on a great win over Askeaton in the County Junior A Hurling Championships Peliminary round on Saturday in Feenagh.
We lead from the start, and played well and kept ahead the whole match, Askeaton rallied strongly and pegged us back to within a couple of points on several occasions. However we kept a strong work ethic and good discipline on the field, and continued to rack up the scores. A purple match in the last 15 mins saw us score a goal and several unanswered points to pull away into the safe zone and win the match on merit. The final score was 3.17 to 2.10. Well done to our players, and team management. The win takes us through to the quarter finals on Saturday 22nd September at 3.15pm in Bruff.
Thanks also to the travelling supporters, who travelled a fair distance to come out and cheer on the team.
Our Cois Laoi Gaels Bord na nOg is still very busy at the moment, our U10’s had no less than 3 matches last week, including a nice win midweek at home, and then a trip to Bruree where we were grateful to again be included in the blitz for the Ann Potter Perpetual Cup. It wasn’t our year this year, but our lads enjoyed the day, and had the opportunity as a team to get their photo taken with the Liam McCarthy Cup. Thanks to Bruree for sharing their big day with us.
The U16’s meanwhile had a strong win in the Championship over local rivals Blackrock midweek, playing away in Blackrock. Whilst the Minors also made a successful foray to Blackrock to overcome Killacolla Gaels in the South’s/City Hurling Championship with a score of 1.27 to 1.07; We now move on to play Southside Gaels on the 23rd September.
