South Championship Semi Final Win

Last weekend, the Stakers took a leaf out of the Limerick Hurlers’s book, in coming back from a 6 point deficit at the beginning of the second half to claw their way back into Semi Final and take the win.

The South’s Junior Championship Semi Final turned out to be a thrilling match for connections of the club. Although we got off to a slow start, trailing Castletown/Ballyagran from the off, and hitting a number of wides. Even so we still kept pace with the game throughout, but appeared to have to work hard for every score, whilst Ballyagran scored with far more ease.. The beginning of the second half saw us trailing by 6 points and in a particularly rocky patch, and hope seemed lost. But in a similar fashion to Limerick last week, with maybe 15 mins to go, things finally seemed to click for the Stakers, and we hit 6 scores with little return.. our defence including our goalie, worked hard to neutralise the opposition, whilst our midfield and forwards sprang to action, this purple patch then culminated in a sublime goal from, on fire corner forward Dermot McCarthy (who scored 1-15 on the night) which took us into the lead, and then onto an eventual 3 point win.
Final score 1.17 to 1.20 Well done to the lads, a fine result for The Stakers.

Staker Wallace will contest the Final of the South’s Junior Hurling Championship this coming Saturday night 11th August at 7.15pm in Bruff, their opponents will be arch rivals Kilmallock… Supporters most welcome…

Huge Congratulations go to Bulgaden lads James Connolly and Adam Lyons who have recently been selected for the Limerick u14 Hurling panel. Great personal achievement for the two lads, and of course good news for the club, and some credit to their coaches who have given so much time up along to develop these and all of our young players.

We have a Jackpot Winner!!!!!!

Congratulations to Bulgaden resident Arthur Ryan who won €3,200… ths week’s Ace of Hearts Draw…
Well done to Arthur, who has supported our draw from the outset, and to the ticket seller Nora O’Reagan, who works hard every week to support our Lotto game.
Our New Lotto game will start next week, there will be 52 cards in the pack, and the hunt will start all over again for the elusive Ace of Hearts, it could come up the first week, or could be the very last card in the pack. Will you be the one to draw it out ? Tickets are €2 each or €20 for a book of 12. A book covers you for every draw for 3 months…. tickets are available from any committee member, Bulgaden Castle or Creed’s Shop, Elton. The game is very simple and the Jackpot guaranteed to be won within 52 weeks. The draw supports our Clubs development and your support is much appreciated. The new Jackpot will start at €1,000 and will be drawn next Monday night as always at 9pm in Bulgaden Castle.

U16’s having a red hot summer so far with another cracking win over local rivals Glenrue this week. A punishing goal tally pushed our Cois Laoi Gaels team into a strong position, and Glenroe really didn’t have the answer on the day. Our sixth win on the bounce I believe, certainly looks hopeful for the future!

Training returned to some normality this week, in the cooler weather after numbers have been scarce due to the combined effects of the heat and holidays. The u10’s travelled up for a friendly against Kilfinane midweek, and gave it their all, but the Rockies proved too strong in the end, some real good individual performances though..
