Staker Wallace G.A.A. Club Notes:

Lotto Results:

This week’s lotto results are as follows Liam Wallace had the lucky chance to find the Ace of Hearts, but out came the King of Clubs, and again the jackpot remains intact. Lucky dips then followed for Pat Lyons Snr. Billy Meade, Erin O’Connor and James and Catherine Daly.

So next week’s jackpot will rise to €2,000. Thank you to all who took part, and a reminder that tickets can be bought at Creeds Shop and Bulgaden Castle.

Underage:

U14’s:

Commiserations to our U14’s hurlers on Sunday last, who just came up against a stronger team on the day. Doon are very much a club in form at the moment and they were always going to be tough to beat. We were losing out 3.05 to 4 points at half time, and dug deep in the second half to get 3 goals ourselves. We put on a mighty effort, and everyone did their bit. Adam Lyons and Sean Canning stood out on the Cois Laoi Gaels team, however Doon kept hitting scores too and it was always going to be their day. final score was 3.05 to us and 6.09 to Doon. Good luck to Doon in the finals. We still have the football final to look forward too, and the lads came almost the whole way this season so should not be downhearted.

Bulgaden School:

Well done to both the boys and the girls team from Bulgaden National School last Thursday. They took part in a schools 7 a side blitz in the Stakers Complex, and both teams qualified for their respective finals, which take place next Tuesday the 17th October down at the field. Local support is of course always welcome. Well played boys and girls!! And Good Luck in the finals!

Dogs:

The chairman and committee of Staker Wallace GAA would like to remind patrons that dogs are not welcome at the Staker Wallace Complex. For obvious reasons of public hygiene, particularly where children are playing, please do not exercise pets at our facility.

Clothes Collection:

Thanks to all who contributed to our recent clothes collection in aid of our Bord na nOg.  We weighed in over a tonne of bags, so a great effort, and thanks again.

Good Luck:

The county senior hurling final will be played in the Gaelic Grounds next Sunday (15th).

Good luck to our neighbours Kilmallock GAA who will take on Na Piarsaigh at 3.30pm.

Fitness Class:

Fancy something new?  Want to get fitter and slimmer for Christmas join in at the Stakers Complex. Bums and Tums class starting at 9.30am every Friday morning. All welcome.

Scór:

Staker Wallace GAA will be holding a scór event for our Bord na nOg members in the Hall in Ballinvereena on the 21st October at 2pm. Entry is a €1 per person, and entrants must be members of Staker Wallace GAA or eligible to be so (upon payment of a small fee).

It is some years since our club has been involved in scór, which is the cultural wing of the GAA founded in the 1960’s to encourage Irish traditions and involve those who are not necessarily sporty. We would welcome any entries for children who would like to sing, set dance, ceili dance, perform music, recite or tell stories, or enact a small drama. More details about the competition which will be judged by County Judges, can be obtained by contacting Antoinette on 0871701614 or speaking to any committee member. Further details will be posted on our Facebook page too.
