Limerick Junior Hurling County Final:
St Patricks 1 9 Kilmallock 1 9
Both teams will have to do it all again next Friday night after a low scoring draw in the Gaelic Grounds. With gale force winds making conditions very difficult for both teams scoring was at a premium.
St Patricks started much the better team despite playing into a strong breeze, when John Mullane goaled after fifteen minutes following great approach play to give St Patricks a four point lead, they were very much in the driving seat, but Kilmallock then took over and reeled off a goal and five points in their best spell of the game. Two late pointed frees from Calvin Moran had the score 1-07 to 1-05 at the break and had St Patricks in a strong position. Just like in the first half it seemed the team playing with the breeze would find it more difficult and Kilmallock dug in to make the game a real battle. Defences were on top for both sides but eventually St Patricks took the lead going into the final ten minutes with a great score from centre back Gearoìd Hegarty and the game was there to be won. Kilmallock then rose to the challenge and having not scored for twenty six minutes in the second half, two great points had them leading by one again going down the home stretch. This would ask alot of St Patricks but to their credit they did not panic and a foul on Niall Phelan gave Calvin Moran the chance to level up again and he duly obliged, his free taking immaculate all day in difficult conditions. Overall a game that could have went either way, both teams will be happy to go into battle again the next day and if anything, the extra game will benefit saints having not played in a few weeks, please support the team Friday at 8pm in the Gaelic grounds.

Alot of the panel will be underage again next year and this season was a very good learning curve for all involved. Well done lads.
