Junior A Hurlers Lose County Semi Final after Marathon Battle!

Having played Kilmallock twice in the most dramatic of games in successive weeks, Rathkeale were hoping to make it third time lucky when the two teams met again last Wednesday evening in the Gaelic Grounds. Again there was very little between the sides and after a competitive opening half it was the Balbec men who led at the half time interval on a score line of 1-08 to 0-06. Rathkeale battled hard in the second half and slowly but surely clawed their way back into the game, however they eventually lost out on a score line of 2-15 to 0-18. Full credit must go to the Rathkeale players and management who put in an enormous effort over the last month ago, so close but yet so far. All is not lost however, and there is still the small matter of a West Final that needs to be settled. Rathkeale will play Feenagh\Kilmeedy in the replay, after both sides drew in the first game, which seems like a distant memory ago now. The scoreline from Newcastlewest that day was 1-13 to 2-10, when Feenagh\Kilmeedy sank the hearts of Rathkeale supporters when they goaled in the dying seconds. The replay is scheduled for Saturday Nov 4th, with a throw in time of 3pm in Tournafulla.
