Patrickswell GAA Club Notes.
SENIOR HURLERS: In the City Championship semi-final replay against Monaleen, Patrickswell made no mistake with a crushing win of 7-17 to 1-7. The replay was in marked contrast to the highly competitive original draw.
The game was played in baking heat and it was the ‘Well that were in scorching form. Within the first five minutes, Darragh Ahern and Peter Harty scored goals to put Monaleen on the back foot. The intense pressure continued as Patrickswell notched 3-7 without reply in the first quarter of an hour. Lar Considine was in prolific form as he fired over four consecutive points. When Monaleen snatched a goal, Patrickswell simply replied with a fourth goal. The half-time scoreboard in Clarina reflected the one-way traffic at 4-11 to 1-4. There was little doubt of the outcome.
The management allowed no drop in standards in the second half as the ’Well continued the onslaught. Andrew Carroll scored a fifth goal, before Peter Harty added a sixth goal. There were also points from Seanie O’Brien, Darragh Ahern, Calvin Carroll and David Woulfe. The icing on the cake was a late seventh goal for Seanie O’Brien to cap a magnificent 7-17 to 1-7 win.
In the All County Hurling League match against Adare, the ’Well battled hard against their neighbours, but succumbed to a 3-16 to 2-16 defeat. Patrickswell have now played all their fixtures and sit joint top of the table; albeit other clubs have games in hand to reach the Top Two.
JUNIOR A HURLERS: The City Championship continues in Rathbane on Monday July 2 at 7.30pm against Ballybrown.
INTERCOUNTY HURLING: Best wishes to Limerick in their preliminary All Ireland Senior Championship quarter-final with Carlow.
