Strictly Na Piarsaigh:
Our Strictly Na Piarsaigh event took place on Saturday night in the South Court Hotel in front of a fine crowd, Following many agonising weeks of preparations by all 26 dancers the day had finally arrived. In spite of some very anxious participants pre show all 13 couples were brilliant showing off their silky dancing skills to the excited crowd. The pre dance videos were excellent and had the whole hall in sticthes of laughter where Willie O Dea was judge and what a tough job that was! The judges marked each couple and gave some kind words especially Fr Tom Carroll and former Na Piarsaigh netminder John Fitzgerald. Our remaining judges of Maureen Ni Brian, Liam O Donoghue, Oliver Mann and Pamela McGylnn all have glowing comments. Following all the dancers routines it was down to the voting to commence. The overall scores were taken from 30% sponsorship, 30% of votes and 40% on the judges scores. Our senior hurlers covered the hall selling the much in demand voting tickets to ensure the dancers where given all support required to get them over the line
When the final results came in it was our wonderful MC Lorcan Murray who announced the winners the oscar for best pre routine video went to Ramona Slater and Kevin Leahy for their specsaver ad. Third place went to John Culleton and Joan Dowling who also gave us a hilarious Officer and Gentleman ad and in second were Noel Broggy and Lavinia. Duggan
Our overall winners to a rapturous applause were Nial Harty and Evelyn Collins who were excellent on the night. A big void had now been left in these dancers lives so maybe we can recruit them again in the future to fill their empty week night’s. A big mille buiochas to every single dancer who made huge sacrifice over the past few months to make this night a success.
Thank you to Kevin Rowe and his staff for their guidance and knowledge and to the hotel and staff for their efforts. Well done to all the volunteers who collected votes, sold tickets, organised and made our night a roaring success. Special mention also to the judges who really added to the occasion.
Lotto:
The jackpot now stands at €16600 following Tuesday’s draw. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 8 and 23. No jackpot winner but 3 lucky dip winners were Donna O Regan, Sean Cregan and Denis Duggan. Sellers prize went to Martin Harty and Frances Hourigan won the house draw.
Daly Cup Visit Schools:
Thank you to Scoil Criost Ri and Scoil Mhuire Banrion Na hEireann along with JFK and Gaelscoil Sairseil who all gave our senior hurlers a wonderful reception when they visited with the Daly cup. It is of huge importance to the players to bring the cup back to where it all began. We look forward to many more visits.
