Mungret St Pauls G.A.A. Club Notes:

Premier Monor Football:

Mungret St. Pauls 1-4 Monaleen 0-6
A poor first half from both sides where Mungret St Pauls only attempt on a score came just on the whistle of half time. The second half was where Mungret St. Pauls locked down the Monaleen forwards and took more chances on scoring.
2001 when most of our players were learning to walk and when Mungret St. Pauls last won a minor football title in division 1 and it was back in 1986 when the club last held the premier minor football cup so this was a much sought for trophy.
In 8 attempts on scoring Monaleen only converted 2 on the 9th and 11th minute of the game. Mungret St. Pauls were awarded a free on the 32nd minute of the game where they managed to go in at the half time with one point down.
The second half saw a renewed Mungret St. Pauls team. Monaleen struck a point in the opening minutes of the game and Mungret St. Pauls replied with a point from a free. Staying in the Monaleen half Mungret St. Pauls send their next free wide but from the kick out they took over the ball and it was sent straight to the back of the net to bring Mungret St. Pauls ahead for the first time in the game. A free pointed by Monaleen before Mungret St. Pauls took their lead out further with an additional 2 points. With 5 minutes of normal time left Monaleen scrambled back and send 2 quick points over from play. Trying to hold onto their one point lead, Mungret St. Pauls were awarded a free in front of the goals but taken quickly went wide and the ball was sent to the other end of the pitch where it stayed for the longest 2 minutes in the whole game as Monaleen tried every player available to break through the Mungret St. Pauls strong defense with a close call for Monaleen blocked down and then a free for Monaleen was called in front of the goals, supporters chose to watch while others could not look as Monaleen stood up to the ball and when the shout came for it veering wide a scramble on the end line, the ball was in the process of being kicked out the field by Mungret St. Pauls when the whistle was blown to mark a milestone for Mungret St. Pauls.
Well done also to Jack Coyne who received the man of the match award. U10 Hurling:

On Saturday 14th October, 30 of our U10 hurlers accompanied by their coaches and parents set off for an end of season tour to Dublin where they first went on a guided tour of Croke Park, visiting players lounge, Dressing rooms, Warm up area and exiting though the tunnel to climb the steps to the presentation area and the Ard Comhairle section where they learned about some of the history of Croke Park and then on to a corporate box to see what that looked like. They then took part in some of the interactive games in the museum before having a picnic in the Shadow of the Cusack Stand. It was then off to Round Towers GAA club in Clondalkin for two challenge matches, where we got a very warm welcome and in which our players played very well. To round off the stay the players were treated to Supermacs on the way home. This is the end of our training and games for 2017 and we eagerly await the start of the 2018 season. Photographs from the day are on our club website http://mungretstpauls.com/juvenile-club/u-10-hurling
