AWARDS NIGHT: A club awards night will take place in Monaleen Clubhouse on Friday, February 23. Members of three successful adult teams and a number of juvenile teams and players will be preseented with medals on the night. There will also be live music. More details to follow
.CLOTHING COLLECTION: Monaleen GAA Club is organising a special clothes recycling drive on Saturday, March 3 to help raise funds to purchase first aid equipment. The club will receive payment for each bag of clothing and textiles collected. Please donate all your new and used mens/womens and childrens clean, unwanted clothing, shows, belts, handbags, ties, linens, household textiles, etc. No rugs, carpets, duvets or pillows, however. The collection will take place between 9.30am and 12noon.
SYMPATHY: The club would like to extend sincere sympathy to the family of Bill Graham, late of The Fairways, a former treasurer and officer of Monaleen GAA Club who passed away last week. Husband of the late Kathleen and pre-deceased by his sisters Kay (O’Leary) and Ruth (Hersey), the late Bill Graham is deeply regretted by his nieces Ethna, Kathleen & Clare, nephews Fr Gerard, Arthur and Bruce, grand nephews, grand nieces, great grand nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and friends. .U-21 HURLERS: Monaleen U-21 hurlers are due to face Murroe-Boher in Group 2 of the County Premier U21 Hurling Championship in Cappamore on Sunday next, February 18, at 3pm. All support welcome. Our scheduled U-21 hurling fixture v Garryspillane last weekend was postponed due to the adverse weather.FEILE PEIL: Our U-14 footballers begin their 2018 Feile campaign with a game against city rivals Mungret St Paul’s in the Feile Peile A competition at Mungret on Sunday next, February 18 at 11am. RETURN TO TRAINING: Our various juvenile groups have returned to training after the winter break at UL on Friday night and on Sunday afternoon. Contact respective coaches for start times and further details.LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €20,000 which was drawn on Thursday, February 8The numbers drawn were 3, 8, 18, 35. Winners of lucky dips of €50 each,J. Cooney, @Leo; R Larkin, Monaleen Hts; S. Holland, Fairways; T. Madden, Killonan. Our jackpot remains at its maximum allowed limit of €20,000 and will remain at this level until some lucky winner carries off the Big prize. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.
MONALEEN GAA TENNIS CLUB NOTESCOURTS: Courts can be booked on the sheets at the noticeboard on the bottom court. Tokens can bepurchased in the bar [1 token is €3 and lasts for 45 minutes]. Tennis balls and club gear can be purchasedfrom Declan at 087-6823289. Coaching is available for all levels of player. Please contact Jennifer Colford at085-7104935. There are bins located outside the courts. Please ensure that you remove any rubbish from the courts when your game is finished.
