Premier U21 Hurling Championship

U21 Hurling Championship V Doon in Martinstown on Thursday 8th March 2018.

Final Score; Doon 0-15 Garryspillane 0-14

A hugely spirited performance by this young team just saw them fall short by just a single point of beating hot favourites Doon. An evenly contested first half resulted in the sides level at 10 points each at half time. Even though in the second half the scores were hard to come by our defence was immense in keeping the Doon forwards quiet. The better and quicker conditions definitely suited our team. We have one final game in the group against Monaleen.

Team: Andy Dooley, Darragh Keogh, Roibeard Donovan, Jack Houlihan, Mark Quinlan, Cathal Shanahan, Bryan Heavey, Ryan Tobin ( 0-1 ), Eoin O Mahoney, Ciaran Sheehan ( 0-2 ), Eoin Sheehan ( 0-1 ) , Dylan O Shea ( 0-7, 5f ) Peter Morrissey, Callum Sheehan ( 0-3 ), Niall Kearney. Sub: Michael O Dwyer for Niall Kearney. Ref; John Paul Kiely.

U21 Hurling Champinship V Monaleen in Rhebogue on Saturday 10th March 2018
Final Score: Garryspillane 1 – 16 Monaleen 1 – 13

Fantastic win for our u21 hurlers in their final group game against Monaleen. Playing against slight breeze in first half we went in 1 point down at half time 0-9 to 0-8. At half time we introduced Dylan O’Shea and Mark Quinlan. However after 10 mins we were a man down and 5 points down, 0-13 to 0-8. From here though the boys hurled up a storm and scored 1 goal and eight points without reply. The goal coming from Peter Morrissey. Even though we have not qualified for semi-final the campaign has been very positive and our young team can consider themselves a little unlucky.

Team: Andy Dooley, Darragh Keogh, Roibeard Donovan, Jack Houlihan, Jaime Mossissey, Cathal Shanahan, Bryan Heavy, Ryan Tobin ( 0-1), Eoin O Mahoney, Eoin Sheehan ( 0-1 ), Michael Bourke ( 0-5 3f), Ciaran Sheehan ( 0-2 ), Niall Kearney, Callum Sheehan ( 0-3 ), Peter Morrissey ( 1-1 ) Subs; Dylan O’Shea ( 0-3, 2f ), Mark Quinlan Ref : Mike Sexton
