There was a poignant welcome for former Galbally GAA Club Secretary and distinguished player Ger Carew who was a mentor with Monaleen. His son Conor lined out at corner back, and another son Cathal played for Monaleen Seniors against Ballylanders recently in the County Senior Football Championship. Another son Eoin represented Limerick in the 2016 Munster Minor Football Championship against Clare at Milltown Malbay. Well done also to Number 5 Darragh Ryan of Kildare, a man of strong Galbally links, on winning the All-Ireland Under 20 Title. He is a son of Seamus Ryan and a nephew of 1990 Intermediate Triple Winning Captain Paul Ryan.
