West U21 B Football Championship Final

Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-11

This was a game of halves with Dromcollogher/ Broadford leading at the break 0-8 to 0-3, and then in the second half they out scored us by 1-5 to 1-3 with our goal coming from James Molyneaux, and the points coming Colm Ryan 6 points, Jack Pierce and Luke Ryan 2 points each and Donal Molyneaux 1 point and congratulations to the Management team of Kevin Noonan, Kevin McGill, Gareth Meaney and Cillian Fahy and the players led by Michael Ryan (captain) and the best of luck in the County Semi-Final against the winners of Claghaun and Crecora/ Mainster, on Sunday December 15th, in Kilmallock, at 12 noon (with extra-time if necessary).

Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the first seven points of the game and with four of these coming from Colm Ryan and the other points came from Luke Ryan 2 points and Jack Pierce and then Clan an nGael scored the next two points to leave five points between the sides. Jack Pierce scored another point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Clan an nGael scored the point just before the break to leave five points at sides at end of the half. To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-8 to Clan na nGael 0-3.

Clan an nGael scored the first point of the second half to leave four points between the sides and then Colm Ryan scored another point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides. Clan an nGael scored the next 1-1 of the game with 36 minutes gone in the game to leave a point between the sides and then Colm Ryan scored another pointed free to leave two points and then Clan an nGael scored the next point to bring sides back to leave a point between the sides. Donal Molyneaux scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to lead by two points and then Clan an nGael scored two more points to bring sides back on level terms for the first time during the game. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next goal of the game with 58 minutes gone in the game after a great ball played in Ronan Cahill and then James Molyneaux scored the goal by fisting the ball to the back of Clan an nGael net to give us victory for the first since 2008 by a goal. To leave the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-11 to Clan an nGael 1-08.

Johnny Walsh Chairman of the West Board thanked both teams a very close final with two totally different halves of the game, he thanked the referee Derek Byrne and his officials, Tournafulla for the use of their field and then presented the cup to Michael Ryan captain of Dromcollogher/ Broadford. Michael thanked Clan an nGael for a great game, the management and players for their effort the referee and his officials and Tournafulla for use their field and then Colm Ryan got presented with man of match by Pat O’Donnell PRO of the West Board.

The Annual Race Night of Dromcollogher/ Broadford GAA Club will take place on Saturday December 28th, in Neenan’s Bar, Broadford, time to be confirmed, promoters will be calling to your door over the couple of weeks, €20 per Jockey, owner and Trainer and €50 for a full horse. The Annual General Meeting of Dromcollogher/ Broadford GAA Club will take place on Friday December 13th, in GAA Clubhouse, Dromcollogher, time to be confirmed, please attend this very important meeting and everybody is welcome.

A Reunion of 92 Junior B Football County Football Champions

On next Sunday evening in the hall Dromcollogher at 8.30pm, a reunion of ’92 Junior B County Champions with special guests Mikey Harte and Matt O’Callaghan will take place. Matt will be MC for the evening hosting panel discussion with Mikey Clancy Tommy Stack, Jason Stokes and Neil Conway who played in the 2001 All-Ireland Football final against Mikey Harte managed Tyrone under 21’s, a presentation and interviews with 92 management and players along with one to one interview with Mikey Harte. It should be interesting evening, refreshments will be served, admission free, all welcome to attend.
