Junior A Football:
Having beaten Monaleen in the playoff match last Tuesday week, we took on Kilteely/Dromkeen at a sunny Fedamore last Sunday. We won the toss and played against a strong breeze. We worked very hard retaining possession and defending as a team. We kept the scoreboard ticking over and went in at half time 1.07 to 2.03 down. With the strong wind at our backs we had a great start with Mark Reidy doing damage at full forward. We had a lot of possession in good positions but spurned many attacking options. This spurred on Kilteely who grew in confidence and the game was nip tuck right through. We scored a goal from a penalty and had the game there for the taking but unfortunately we didn’t push on and take our chances, and the game was level with 7 minutes to play when a ball broke to a Kilteely player and he finished to the net. We scored a free but Kilteely managed to play keep ball for a few minutes and the final whistle blew as we were bursting out of defence on a counter attack. Final score 3.11 to 4.05. Well done to Kilteely and hard luck to our lads.
With our Junior Footballers finished for the season, Croom will play in the South Championship which will begin in a few weeks. Manager Richie O’Kelly will be in touch.
