C-A-M Cancer Support Fundraiser 27th July
The Castleconnell / Ahane / Mountpelier Cancer support group held their first fundraiser on Friday last, 27th of July. The group are attempting to raise funds to assist families in our community who are being impacted by a cancer diagnosis to the extent that routine household management and individual wellbeing is undermined. This fundraising event was the first ever walk through our very own bog just outside Castleconnell and a large attendance arrived to support this very worthy cause. Limerick Senior Hurlers
Huge congrats to all involved in overcoming a strong Cork challenge in a pulsating game in Croke Park last Sunday. There were heroes throughout the field in a game where Limerick showed all the positive traits of a successful team, to beat Cork 3-32 to 2-31 after extra time meaning they reach their first senior final since 2007. Everyone in the club will look forward with great excitement and anticipation to the next few weeks as we build up to the final. In Ahane we have the added bonus of having two of our own in Tom and Dan Morrissey involved as well and wish them the very best of luck. Well done to the lads and all involved. Roll on the 19th August! Luimneach Abu..
Ahane Junior Hurlers
The Junior hurlers played Kilteely/Dromkeen in the first round-robin playoff game on Thursday 26th in Cappamore. On what was a dirty, wet evening for hurling, Kilteely started the faster with a goal inside the first minute. Ahane recovered, knocking over points to leave the minimum between the sides at the break. Unfortunately Kilteely managed another two goals to Ahane’s one in the second half which always gave them the edge on the score board. While the lads battled away valiantly to the end, Kilteely eventually won out on the final score of 3-11 to 1-12.
Ahane now play Doon on Thursday the 2nd in Cappamore at 19:30. Please come out and support the lads.
