Congratulations:

The club wishes to congratulate Joey Conway on winning his first cap for Ireland u20 in their 20-19 win over Scotland last Friday night. Joey represented Ahane with distinction before he chose to take up the oval ball full time and his two younger brothers, Jamie and Tom are both very promising U12 and U6 Hurlers respectively.

Best Wishes:

The very best wishes to Dan and Tom Morrissey, our Limerick senior hurling panel members, as they begin the National hurling league campaign against Davys resurgent Wexford men next Sunday in Wexford Park at 2pm as well as to new Limerick manager John Kiely and the rest of the team management and players. C’mon Limerick! It’s about time we returned to the top flight.

Unsung Hero:

The inaugural Ahane GAA Unsung Hero award for January goes to Noreen Byrnes Newgarden.

Noreen can frequently be seen patrolling the club grounds picking up litter that has found or blown its way onto the pitches or car park and generally keeping a watchful eye on the grounds.

Noreen is one of the famous Byrnes family of Newgarden and it is behind the scenes stalwarts like Noreen and others like her that make clubs tick all over our county and country.
